I thought I would just let everyone know how the Girls U11’s are getting along. It has been a while between match reports – so this is a little like a bus – you wait ages for one then four come along together!
WSC v Blackpool
After our magnificent win against Bolton at home our next match was in the cup round against Blackpool away – what can I say – this team are in another league (or is that wishful thinking on my part), they should be playing United/Liverpool/City. Yes we got beaten, but we did manage to score a goal.
WSC v Burnley
Our next match was against Burnley we must have scored the quickest goal ever – just 16 seconds from the kick off! and at half time we were 3-0 up. We lost a key player during the first half and just into the second half our midfielder came off injured, which seemed to make the girls crumble. The girls that replaced these were a bit complacent and thought the game was in the bag – it wasn’t, and Burnley came back to win the game 6-4. This was a very hard loss to take.
We did arrange a friendly game the week after but this had to be cancelled due to snow.
WSC v Mill Hill
This weekend we had two games, one on Saturday against Mill Hill and another one Sunday against Westbury. We have a Magnificent Seven (which are our starting line-up), who did us proud. The girls had an excellent game on Saturday – it was a hard game and at half time we were 1-0 down. We did lose the game but it was only 3-0.
We always give everyone one of our girls who are signed a game.
WSC v Westbury
On Sunday we played Westbury, I thought the girls would be very tired after such a hard game the day before, but they played brilliantly.
At half time it was 2-1 to us and was a very close game. We made a few substitutions in the second half replacing our Magnificent Seven with another magnificent crew. In the second half we scored 3 goals in quick succession and then we hit top form, eventually winning 8-2.
Thanks to all our girls, each of you has improved so much; you make watching and coaching you a pleasure.
Can I just finish by wishing Andy Pickfords’ under 14’s lads team the very best of luck in the County Cup Final this Thursday. Some of girls are coming to support you – I know it will be a good night.
Thanks Phil
