Saturday 12 th December 2009 WSC Under 7's v Unsworth U7’s

It was a cold morning as WSC Under 7's took their unbeaten record to Unsworth. The pitch had defrosted just enough to pass an early morning inspection.

Walshaw had a full squad to pick from and the starting line up, led by Captain for the Day JJ, soon realised that Unsworth were going to be a tough nut to crack. A small pitch meant that Walshaw's passing game had to be up to scratch and the boys certainly tried their hardest - finding it difficult to get through a strong Unsworth defence.

A man of the Match display from Han at the back meant that Unsworth's chances were restricted to long shots in the first half. Eventually WSC took the lead after a pinpoint cross from Bailey was hammered into the net by the impressive William - showing that he really is developing as a striker.

The second half was a tight affair. Luke putting in a strong display in the net, Elijah putting in several good corners from the left that could easily have found their way into the net and both William and JJ going close to adding a second -only to be foiled by Unsworth's Man of the Match - the goalkeeper.

Inevitably Unsworth applied some good pressure in the second half and shortly before the final whistle they managed to get an equaliser. Spurred on by this Unsworth sought a winner and WSC strong defence had to cope with 3 corners in a row to keep the result as an evenly fought draw.

Parents Man of the Match was Han - for a fantastic display at the back.

Thanks

Mike
