Saturday 21st November 2009 WSC Under 7's v Radcliffe Boro U7’s

WOW! What a fantastic match. This clash of what both manager's confirmed to be unbeaten sides truly matched the eager anticipation!

Due to heavy rain (no surprises there) we weren't sure the game would go ahead but at the last minute we got the nod and a late kick off meant that a larger than usual crowd could enjoy the game.

Radcliffe are a well organised side with some quality players throughout the team and it wasn't long before they took the lead with a well organised goal that caught the Walshaw defence out. Led by captain for the day Elijah, Walshaw managed to create a number of chances in the first half with Samuel, JJ and a great long range effort from Nathan going close - but not close enough! Thanks to some great covering defending at the back from Alex, the ever reliable Han and Nathan along with great handling from the number one keeper Luke the score remained at just one nil at half time.

The second half began in much the same way, Walshaw having some great possession but Radcliffe remaining strong and organised at the back. Thanks to some great passing they broke again mid way through the half to score past Luke who almost managed to keep the ball out. At that point Walshaw's unbeaten record looked to be coming to an end - or so we thought!

Jon decided that it was time for a change (what a tactician!), Luke came out of goal to be replaced by Samuel and took his position in the centre of midfield. All of a sudden the game changed - Michael danced his way down the right wing beating player after player to make his way into the box and crossed the ball for JJ to finish in the corner. The crowd went wild!

Spurred on by the goal Walshaw continued to press, Luke taking command of the midfield and creating space for Bailey to slip the ball past the keeper. This time the Managers went wild!!! It was all so nearly in vain as Radcliffe showed their resilience and attacked once more. This time Samuel showed how Marshy's Goal Keeper Coaching was working a treat as he demonstrated agility and bravery to keep the ball out! Once again Walshaw had shown a determination and great team spirit to keep up their unbeaten start to the season. This was an absolutely brilliant game by all the boys on both sides - a friendly rivalry that will hopefully continue for many seasons to come.
