Prestwich Heys U7’s v Walshaw Sports Club U7’s (Away fixture)
On a surprisingly mild morning following downpours through the night, the team travelled over to Hollins for a match against Prestwich Heys with the ever reliable band of supporters keen to see another competent display from their side.
With goalkeeper Luke out, some tinkering of the team was required (fortunately the Management didn't get tips from Rafa Benitez!) Samuel donned the yellow jersey and Han partnered Captain Alex at the back.
On a tight pitch Walshaw found the opponents difficult to break down, with shots going just wide and some fine saves by Prestwich's Keeper meaning the score remained 0 - 0 for the first 10 minutes.
At times WSC struggled to find our passing game, the small pitch limiting the space available but eventually we took the lead through Bailey with a fine strike, quickly followed by another effort from the right side by JJ.
Elijah produced some fine corners from the left hand side and it was thanks to his intelligent thinking and great movement from Nathan that a corner to the edge of the box produced a fine strike from Nathan's left foot.
The second half continued in much the same way, Bailey replaced Samuel in goal and Walshaw added a goal not long after with a great shot from Michael. Striker William showed what a good shot he has on him, rifling a effort past the keeper.
Walshaw dominated possession but Prestwich showed great determination and a fantastic run down the wing caught Walshaw cold. Their winger produced an excellent cross from the right and despite a valiant effort from Nathan his outstretched leg could only send the ball rocketing past Bailey into the net.
It could have been more but some great defending from Alex and especially Han ensured no more were conceded.
Samuel showed some fantastic individual skill on the left to complete the scoring. Credit should be given to the Prestwich goalkeeper who produced a fine display.
Parents Man of the Match was JJ.
Crowd Attendance 25.
Thanks Mike
