WSC Under 7's v Woodbank Reds U7’s
Despite some heavy overnight rain, the pitch was in good condition for the eagerly anticipated local derby at home to Woodbank Reds.
There were plenty of familiar faces with Woodbank fielding several players from WSC's Future Stars Project from 08-09. It was nice to see that Kieran, Kyle, George and Finn (who's Dad is now the Manager for the Reds) all continuing their football.
Woodbank were obviously out to prove that WSC had missed out on some good players and started off fantastically well. Within a minute they went 1 up and the boys certainly knew they were in for a tough time. The game was evenly matched in the first half and Luke was kept busy as Woodbank looked to score on the break.
William had a fantastic match and made centre midfield his own in the first half and it was thanks to his fantastic shot from outside the area that WSC managed to equalise. JJ showed excellent pace on the right hand side and produced a shot from distance that went in. Captain for the day Nathan was a steady as a rock at the back and produced some great crosses in from the short corners.
The second half continued in much the same way, Woodbank always looking dangerous but they were well marshaled by Samuel, Han and Nathan at the back. WSC played some great football. The game was played in a fantastic spirit and top marks to Steve for a faultless refereeing display. I'm off to Gigg Lane later - if the game is half as good as this one I'll come away smiling.
Parents Man of the Match was Michael. Crowd (Up on the last match...32!)
Thanks Mike
