Match report Woodbank Reds v WSC Under 7's (Friendly)
Thursday 27th May 2010
On a pleasant evening at Nuttall Park the local rivals met up for one of many friendlies to come. WSC were down to the bare bones, with 3 key players Luke, Han and William unavailable.
That left the Magnificent Seven who had 40 minutes to show the crowd how they have developed as a team over a season's worth of football! We were not disappointed!
It was a chance for one or two players to try different roles - with Nathan, Elijah, Michael and Samuel standing in for Luke in goal.
Woodbank started off really well and it looked like the boys were up against it. Woodbank forced numerous corners and it was via one of these that they shot and the ball deflected over Nathan into the net.
It took a few minutes for the team to find their feet but when their passing game is on form I genuinely believe that no one can live with the team. With Samuel, JJ and Bailey linking up well WSC equalised through Bailey (ever reliable to get a goal!). Samuel finished neatly from inside the area and Bailey got a good second to put the team clear.
Woodbank always looked dangerous on the break but Player of the Match Michael, covering at right back proved as solid a player as his defensive team mates have been all season. He never missed a tackle or a header. Behind him Elijah produced a great save to ensure WSC stayed in the lead.
The second half was a master class. Alex, playing in left midfield ran riot, he demonstrated some of the best dribbling I have seen all season and quite rightly bagged himself 2 goals (he hadn't scored all season until the last league match!).
Bailey supplied JJ with 2 great passes that he finished with style, beating Woodbank's player of the match in goal. Bailey also got his hat trick goal which allowed the team to swap round. JJ and Bailey going in defensive with Nathan (who was unlucky not to score from a free kick) and Elijah going up front.
The game finished not long after Elijah chipped the ball over the out coming keeper to cap an outstanding display!
Parents Player of the Match - Michael.
