Match Report - Bridge FC Hawks v WSC (Friendly- Away)
Saturday 8th May 2010
As the season came to a close, a friendly match against one of the teams that gave us a great game earlier on the year seemed most fitting. Bridge FC Hawks provided some great entertainment and in Russ they have a Manager really passionate about his young team.
A full turn out (impressive because most of the team are involved with the cricket as well) allowed the Management to give players a chance to impress in other positions too!
Michael, impressive in his last 2 matches, scoring 3 goals, started off at right back and had a great game. The game began well for Walshaw and things only got better!
Parents Player of the Match William, was awesome, he demonstrated great strength and skill to open the scoring, he has pressed Bailey all the way this season as top scorer!
JJ playing down the right created numerous chances but it was William, running down the left wing who created the second goal, crossing for strike partner Bailey to finish between the goalkeepers legs.
To be honest there could have been more goals, thanks to Russ' son Peter in goal, Bridge managed to keep the score down to 2 - 0 at half time.
The second half provided some great entertainment, Samuel causing havoc in the box with his long throw ins, took over in goal. Bailey, bossing the left wing and losing a tooth when controlling the ball with his head! Nathan, trying hard to score again up front, JJ hitting the post with a great strike, Elijah trying hard despite feeling unwell and Han and Alex controlling everything in their half!
In Luke the team have not only the best goal keeper in the division but also a very useful addition to the midfield. His energy and strength really cause the opposition problems and it was no surprise that he scored the final goal of the game, slotting a cross home neatly into the corner.
There could have been more but the Hawks defended well. 3 goals and another clean sheet was a great result in the end though and a useful match before the Radcliffe Boro Tournament next week.
Parents Man of the Match - William for a faultless display.
Attendance - 28
Thanks
Mike
