Match Report - Pennine Juniors Black U7 v WSC U7
Played at Pennine 28th April 2010
In the penultimate game of the season, for the first time in half a dozen games the under 7's were able to field a full squad, welcoming back Alex.
The team started brightly with Michael playing superbly on the left wing he came close to scoring his second in 2 games but his looping shot hit the bar. The early pressure however did not create the first goal and Pennine, a strong well organised team broke down the right and a well directed cross caught WSC cold and Pennine went a goal up with a neat finish.
WSC controlled a lot of the first half and managed to get a deserved equaliser when Bailey looked up and played a great through ball for William to latch onto and slot it past the keeper. They didn't stay level for long and Pennine managed to score again before half time to set up a fantastic second half.
It was a chance for the team to show their fight and determination - and boy did they do that! Safe in the knowledge that Luke in goal, supported by Nathan and the busy Han in defence could be relied upon to keep things tight at the back, the rest of the team demonstrated
some incredible passing and shooting!
William scored his second of the game with a blistering shot into the near top corner, giving the keeper no chance.
WSC went from strength to strength, with Samuel's long throws and JJ's runs down the wing creating corner after corner. Surely it was only a matter of time before WSC scored again.
It was from a corner that the 3rd goal came - and what a goal! It had been a long time coming, 20 games in fact! The ball came out to Han on the half way line.
His looping kick was met superbly by Elijah who passed the ball first time to Alex in the centre and from 12 yards out his shot flew into the top left corner! WHAT A GOAL! Alex had been the only Walshaw player not to score this season - and what a way to break your duck! The crowd went wild - they acknowledged just how good a goal that was!
There was time for one more and it was left to the talented Bailey to get it! A corner from the right went all the way through the box and landed right at his feet, with one touch he rifled the ball into the net.
This was a great game, played in great spirits. Pennine were unlucky not to be given a penalty which could have made the game tighter, but it was Walshaw's Night.
Parents Player of the Match - Michael - WELL DONE!
Attendance - 23.
Thanks Mike
