Match Report - Radcliffe Boro A U7 v Walshaw Sports Club U7

Saturday 20th March 2010

After a difficult home tie last week things didn't look any easier for the Under 7's with a tricky away tie to a very well organised Radcliffe side.

Earlier in the season this team gave WSC the fright of their season - leading by 2 goals with less than 10 minutes to play!

Once again the crowd were in for a great game and despite the heavy overnight rain that continued throughout the morning the boys from both sides did not let their supporters down.

Captain for the day Bailey seemed inspired - has the coaching on a Wednesday started to pay off, he put in a man of the match winning performance demonstrating that he has great vision and a fantastic left foot to put several great crosses in the box.

The game swung both ways with very few clear cut chances in the first half. The defences dominating the majority of the ball.

In Han WSC have found a player always willing to fight for the ball, he has complemented an already strong defence and gives the other defenders, Nathan and Alex, the chance to get forward.

The first half finished 0 - 0, both teams playing some great football.

The second half was much the same, Radcliffe having some fantastic corners that they were unlucky not to benefit from. Bailey combined well with William and Michael to come close to scoring - only for the Radcliffe keeper to produce a fantastic save.

Samuel's long throws are also proving very useful, creating a number of corners that Elijah placed accurately in the box, but Radcliffe held firm. Alex, given the freedom of a central midfield role came close to breaking his scoring duck, his shot producing yet another fine save.

The game finished 0-0 and a friendly penalty shoot-out once again gave the leagues best keeper - Luke - the chance to demonstrate that he could realistically play a couple of years above his age. He scored the first penalty and went on to save 5 of Radcliffe's. He really is that good!

Once again a thoroughly enjoyable 0 - 0 draw - well done to both teams and to Radcliffe Boro for a great game, well refereed and in a played in a great spirit. I think these teams will have some memorable matches as they get older.

Parent's Man of the Match - Bailey.

Attendance - 25 (well it was raining!)
