Match Report - Walshaw Sports Club U7 v Middleton Boys U7  

 

Saturday 13th March 2010

 

This was the first time the two sides had met in the league , the only previous encounter being a pre season friendly where Walshaw came out on top.

 

Middleton came out all guns blazing and immediately put WSC on the back foot. WSC slowly played their way back in to the game with the best move of the match coming from a superb passing interchange between Elijah, Bailey and William with the shot just going wide of the goal.

 

An excellent goal keeping display from Luke ensured the two teams went in at half time with the scores

level at 0 - 0.

 

In the second half the two sides matched each other for determination and effort but it was the WSC defensive line up of Han, captain for the day Nathan and Alex who were kept the busier throughout and the Middleton pressure paid off on the half hour mark when they finally beat Luke with a low drive to go 1 - 0 up.

 

WSC never give up and had to attack. An equalizer looked likely with constant pressure from the Michael and JJ on the wings which produced a number of corners. The ball however wouldn’t go in the back of the net and Middleton came out deserved winners.

 

The game was played in excellent spirit throughout.

 

Attendance - 38 (12 away supporters )

 

Players Man of the Match - Luke for his fantastic goal keeping display which kept WSC in the game. Marshy, his mentor would have been very proud from the sidelines.
