Match Report Bridge Hawks U7 V WSC U7
Saturday 6th March 2010
It was a matter of 3 weeks since these teams last met. That game finished 2 - 2 and did the boys know they had been in a match, coming from 2 goals down to make an impressive draw.
With that game in mind and a squad missing two key players in Nathan and Michael (Han refusing to let illness prevent him from turning out - an indication of just how committed the team have been this year!) Walshaw were determined to make amends - and boy did they perform!!
They began the game on the front foot and didn't look back. Every single player giving 110%
WSC went a goal up early on with JJ finishing cooly after great combination work between Elijah, Will and Bailey. Once again the Hawks keeper had a great first half and several good saves prevented the lead extending. With Samuel and Alex running the defence the Hawks chances were limited and deservedly WSC got another goal this time from Bailey, with a great strike.
Han replacing Samuel after he got floored by a ball full in the face, was as dogged as ever and won every tackle he went in for.
In the second half WSC continued to demonstrate how good their passing game can be. In Elijah they have a player with great vision, his passing opening up defences for Bailey and Will to benefit.
The third goal took time to come, firstly Bailey coming close when he hit the bar, but it was not surprising that William, running in from the right hand side got it with a fine shot, the Hawks goal keeper unlucky not to save it.
Samuel replaced Luke in goal allowing "the cat" a run in midfield. JJ covered at right back but was given the chance of a last run up front he scored WSC's fourth and final goal with style.
With only one substitute this was one of WSC's better performances, Bridge are a good side but in fairness to them - they didn't get a chance to impress today WSC played their "A" game!
Attendance - at least 30!
Parents Player of the Match - the quiet but dependable Alex.
Well done guys
Mike and Jon
