Saturday 23 rd January 2010 Pennine Juniors Black U7 v WSC U7 (Played at WSC)

Finally a football match in the New Year and what a display by WSC!!

Pennine started the game very strongly with several good attempts on goal that kept Luke's hands warm on a cold, misty morning. At first it looked as though WSC were a little ring rusty, with one or two players trying out different positions.

Nathan and Han played very well at the back and soon kept the Pennine strikers at bay. William and Bailey played well up front with Michael patrolling the right wing.

With half time approaching WSC began to find their feet and the deadlock was broken by a great finish in the right corner by Bailey after the ball broke to him on the left hand side.

WSC knew from past meetings that Pennine are a well organised side, very difficult to break down and always dangerous on the attack.

The second half though belonged to WSC, Samuel showing fantastic vision and a great passing display linking up with Man of the Match JJ to break down the Pennine defence. The ball was passed from left to right for JJ to score a fantastic goal. WSC kept up the pressure with William and then Elijah having great shots saved by Pennine's outstanding goal keeper.

JJ added a second after great work by Bailey and Samuel and then showed great persistence and anticipation to add his hat trick goal.

With a clear lead this allowed the Managers to change the team around. Left back Alex showing fantastic pace and skills down the left wing with goal keeper Luke coming out of goal and showing just what a great utility player he is, first spraying the ball out wide from centre midfield and then covering at the back to allow Nathan a run up front.

There could have been more goals but Pennine's keeper had a stormer. The Managers agreed that this was WSC's best display of the season so far. Samuel in particular giving a fine example of how a simple passing game brings great reward.

Credit to Pennine for a great game played in good spirits and for allowing their home tie to be played at WSC.

Parents Player of the Match - JJ.

Attendance fluctuated between 30 and 40 as other Managers came to show their support. Thanks

Thanks

Mike
